"Enough Is Enough" Residents Upset Over Homeless People In Parks
By Matt Kroschel
Grand Junction- There is trouble brewing in one downtown Grand Junction neighborhood. Neighbors are speaking out against what they claim is gangs of homeless people taking over Hawthorne Park along Fifth Street.
City leaders said they know about the problem and working on how to figure out some sort of plan for the future.
Homeless people hanging out in the park Friday afternoon told NewsChannel Five they do not have anywhere else to go. They said the problem is transient people who come through town cause problems and leave, not them. In recent months the Grand Junction Police Department has created a Homeless Outreach Team (HOT TEAM) to deal with these issues.
